During the 2024 Eid homecoming period, the Government has decided to provide discounts on toll road rates.
Providing discounts on toll rates is useful to help reduce the traffic congestion that usually occurs during this period.
This decision was conveyed by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in a press conference at the PUPR Ministry Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday 14 March 2024.
Basuki explained that the aim of providing discounts on toll rates was to regulate traffic flow so that it could run smoothly and safely.
Especially on certain dates during the Eid homecoming.
"It is hoped that this discount will help control traffic density and ensure travel comfort for travelers," said Basuki.
He also noted that toll roads on the island of Java remain the main choice for people traveling home.
In response to this, this year a number of functional toll road sections will be added to improve inter-city connectivity and facilitate citizen mobility.
Several toll road projects currently in the construction process are the Bocimi Toll Section 3 Cibadak-Sukabumi Barat and the Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road which has reached Kartasura-Gondang.
"There are plans to add the Bocimi toll road to West Sukabumi as well as completing the 42 kilometer Solo-Yogyakarta to Gondang toll road," said Basuki.
"It is hoped that these projects can provide easy access for travelers and increase the efficiency of their travel," added Basuki.
Providing discounts on toll road rates and improving toll road connectivity on the island of Java are real efforts by the Government to support the smooth flow of homecoming for Eid and strengthening transportation infrastructure in Indonesia.
