In this extreme weather forecast, BMKG estimates that there are 14 regions in Indonesia that are likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

According to BMKG, the cyclonic circulation observed in the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines has caused the formation of an area of meeting and slowing winds (convergence) that stretches from around the Philippines to the Pacific Ocean east of the Philippines.

There are even other convergence areas in Aceh, Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau Islands, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, and in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua.

This condition can increase the possibility of rain cloud growth around the cyclonic circulation and along the convergence area.

Areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds include: Riau Islands, Jambi, Lampung, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

Meanwhile, areas that have the potential to experience thunderstorms and strong winds include: North Sumatra, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and North Maluku.

The areas that have the potential to experience strong winds are Aceh, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.

As a precaution, people in areas potentially affected by extreme weather are advised to be aware of the possibility of heavy rain, lightning and strong winds.

Apart from that, the public is also expected to follow developments in weather information from trusted sources, such as BMKG, and maintain the safety of themselves and the surrounding environment.

With this early warning, it is hoped that the community can take appropriate preparations and preventive measures in order to reduce the risk of losses due to extreme weather.
