Bandara IKN Belum Dipakai Meski Jokowi Sudah Ngantor di Sana, Ini Alasannya

JAKARTA, SEMARAKNEWS.CO.ID - The airport at IKN is currently not yet in use even though Jokowi has started his office at IKN since July 28 2024.

There are certain reasons why the airport at IKN cannot yet be used.

The Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, explained the reason why the airport had not yet been used.

Basuki said that the IKN airport runway should have a length of 2,200 meters. 

However, until now the construction has not been completed, so it cannot be used to land passenger planes.

"We are sorry because IKN Airport is still 300 meters short of 2,200 meters," said Basuki at the Independence Month Press Conference, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's live YouTube broadcast Thursday, August 1 2024.

Basuki explained that his party is targeting the runway to reach 2,200 meters by 17 August.

However, construction has recently been hampered by high rainfall conditions in recent times.

The PUPR Ministry has also implemented Weather Modification Technology (TMC) so that in the past 2 weeks there has been no rain. 

Even so, it is estimated that this runway will not be fully completed until August 14.
