The mystery of the discovery of a human skeleton inside a sugar palm tree in Serdang Bedagai Regency (Sergai), North Sumatra, is beginning to shed light. The discovery of clothing near the site is believed to be a crucial clue to the victim's identity.

Firdaus Police Chief, AKP Ahmad Albar, revealed that, based on information from residents, the clothing found with the skeleton resembled that of a 20-year-old man who was reported missing about two years ago.

"Yes, I'm a local resident too, near the crime scene. According to information, someone went missing two years ago, around 20 years old, and there's been no news of him until now," Albar said on Thursday (September 11, 2025).

Clothing Becomes Initial Clue

Residents' statements strengthen the suspicion that the skeleton belongs to the missing young man. One family member even claimed to recognize the shirt and pants found.

"According to the family, the shirt is identical, and they also recognize the pants. Even his younger sister said she had washed the clothes," Albar explained.

Awaiting Autopsy Results and DNA Testing

Despite the clothing matching, police emphasized that the skeleton's identity has not yet been confirmed. The skeleton has been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Medan for an autopsy and DNA sampling.

"It's not yet certain whether this is the missing person. We're still waiting for DNA results to confirm their identity," Albar emphasized.

The discovery of the skeleton inside the trunk of a sugar palm tree shocked Sergai residents and has now garnered public attention. The results of the forensic examination are expected to quickly resolve the mystery.
