When confirmed, Sokaraja Police Chief, AKP Soetrisno, confirmed that there had been an attempted theft.
"That's true, but the box is empty because it was only taken after Friday," said Soetrisno to reporters on Monday, January 22 2024.
Soetrisno also revealed that the car owner suffered a loss of IDR 100 thousand because the money was lost.
The theft occurred because the car door was not locked.
"The car was not broken into, the doors were not locked. There were no reports other than the loss of around Rp. 100,000 in cash, which the car owner intended to give to charity," said Soetrisno.
Until now, there has been no official report from the mosque management or car owner regarding this incident.
However, Soetrisno appealed to report any losses immediately.
"Currently there have been no reported losses and we advise Bhabinkamtibmas to immediately report any losses," explained Soetrisno.
