This was decided during a verdict hearing today, Thursday, July 11 2024 at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court
The judge stated that SYL was proven guilty of extorting his subordinates at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
"The defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo was sentenced to 10 years in prison," said the chairman of the panel of judges, Rianto Adam Pontoh, when reading out the decision at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday, July 11 2024.
SYL was found guilty of violating Article 12 e in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

The judge explained and also stated that Syahrul Yasin Limpo abused his power by forcing him to give money and pay for his family's needs. The total money enjoyed by SYL and her family was worth IDR 14.1 billion and USD 30 thousand.
The judge also sentenced SYL to pay a fine of IDR 300 million.
If SYL does not pay the fine that has been decided by the judge, a prison sentence will be replaced.
The judge also ordered SYL to pay compensation for the amount of money he received, namely Rp. 14,147,144,786 (Rp. 14.1 billion) and USD 30 thousand. If SYL's assets are insufficient to pay the replacement money, it will be replaced by imprisonment.
The judge stated that there was nothing that could erase SYL's punishment. The judge also considered that SYL should understand which are official and unofficial facilities for a minister.
The trial judge also assessed that various excuses by SYL and his team of lawyers regarding giving a car to SYL's children, recruiting SYL's grandchildren as honorary workers for the Ministry of Agriculture, and paying Umrah fees were contradictory to the facts in the trial. The judge stated that he did not agree with the plea of SYL and his team of lawyers.
