The reference data for LPG subsidy recipients has a minimum figure of 189 million NIK registered consumers.
"Yesterday, our target was actually to close on January 31 2024, but up to December 31 2023 the figure was still 31.5 million registered NIKs," said Mustika, quoted on Wednesday 17 January 2024.
"For this reason, we are extending it until May 31 2024," he added.
However, people who have not registered using an ID card will still be able to buy 3 kg LPG gas.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will maintain the entire gas purchasing process itself.
"Essentially, we will continue to evaluate, the president's direction is not to let there be a (gas) shortage. We will re-evaluate," explained Mustika.
For your information only, the government has implemented that purchasing 3 kilograms (kg) of LPG for consumers is mandatory to register a NIK or KTP, starting January 1 2024.
With this regulation, each base must distribute 3 kg LPG gas to consumers who have registered their KTP.
