Prabowo promised the public that if he was elected president he would provide free lunches to school children.

Initially the funding per child for lunch was IDR 15,000 but this was cut to IDR 7,500.

As vice presidential candidate, Gibran asked all parties to wait for confirmation.

"Who said, wait for confirmation first," said Gibran in Jakarta Thursday, July 18 2024.

Gibran also asked the mass media not to report things that were uncertain. He again asked all parties to wait.

Gibran also said that the free lunch trial for school children would be trialled in the city of Solo starting Monday 22 July 2024.

"Solo, Monday 22 July, there will be a free lunch trial, I'll invite you later," said Gibran.

Gibran said that previous trials had been carried out in several places. One location where it has been held is an elementary school in Bandung.
