JAKARTA, SEMARAKNEWS.CO.ID - Pegi Setiawan was declared free in the case of wrongful arrest in Vina's death.

Pegi was arrested by mistake because his face and name were the same as the main perpetrator who killed Vina.

The wrongful arrest was carried out by the West Java Regional Police.

Pegi was declared free after his pre-trial hearing was accepted by the judge Monday, July 8 2024.

As is known, the single judge at the Bandung District Court, Eman Sulaeman, decided that the pre-trial lawsuit regarding the determination of Pegi Setiawan's suspect status was granted. 

Because the determination of suspect status is canceled and he must be released immediately.

After being released from prison, Pegi admitted that he really wanted to return to his normal activities and work.

Pegi was detained for 1 month at the West Java Regional Police.

"Go home, rest and continue working," said Pegi at the West Java Regional Police Monday, July 8 2024.

Not only that, Pegi also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have supported him, including President Joko Widodo and President-elect Prabowo Subianto, including the lawyers who fought for him.

"I, Pegi Setiawan, along with my family and legal representatives, thank the Indonesian people for praying and supporting me," he said.
